Script writing day 3
I had been stumped on what other aspects I should explore about the main characters life for the past couple of days. I have done relationship and work life. Other two aspects I could think of was family and friendship. But I beforehand thought of making the friendship section be covered towards the end of the film. However, as we were a group of 4, there were no more actor roles that could be filled. So, I was stumped on the next move to make. Also, even if I did get actors outside our group, it would most likely be only one as it would be easier to do so. Thus, I then thought of what family member to pick, and I landed on brother. It would be “brother” because I took aspects from my life to interpret the main characters issues with his family. Obviously took more creative liberties. I wanted a scene where the main character was ridiculed for being jobless and a beggar. I wanted the audience to understand that he would always go to his family when he couldn’t support himself financially or otherwise. I also wanted to portray his family as being fed up with Musa’s constant dependence and stopped helping him all together. This is what I came up with.
There is some exposition that I put so the audience understands but I largely wanted the scene to be short and to the point. There’s also a transition I use in this scene.
I wanted to do one more scene but focused on his friendship part of Musa’s life. And this was my end goal from the start, to him being the final character to tell him (Musa) off. Because he was the charcter that was most peer like to Musa and the one that stuck by him the most out of anyone else in musa’s life. But even their relationship couldn’t be saved. That’s why he is with him at the start and end. Also, It was a hint to the audience he was not real the whole time, only a figment of Musa’s imagination. And why Musa imagines him for advice. Well, now that I had all the ideas put forward, it was time to put it into writing.
