Learning how a production set operates and removing the mics from the scenes

Today, I stayed back for school as I was helping out the production team to prepare for ted x. I made the stage design and assisted in the design of the posters. I was going to be a camera man for that but I stayed back to some what prepare for what shots I could get. After that, me and my friend that I mention in the previous post met too remove the mics from the scenes.
We used his Sony Vegas tool to remove it. I’m not sure I fully get how he accomplished but from my understanding, you drag the media clip (which was just a png to cover the mic, then select edit point and then drag to delete the edit point u didn’t want in the first place. Scene 2 (break up scene) was easy to do but it was the opposite when doing scene 4 as there was much more movement in this scene. Harder to track edit point. We eventually were able to remove it.
