SAE university work shop
I recently went to SAE university to attend a work shop. Twice! My school was already providing the services to go there. But, the week befor I got the oppertunity to go there with a friend as she got an entry ticket which was a different work shop than the one we were doing with school. SAE is also located in Middlesex universty.
the first trip I attended 2 work shop, one for working on a film set and the second was sound auditory engineering. The film set was really fun to be around. I learned a lot of stuff how film set works. There is regular old director, but then theres mic guy, assistant director, AC (assistant camera operator), second AC, and the actors themselves. the assistant director control the set in general, managing what goes on around the set. Mic guy is the guy holding the boom mic. First AC hadles the camera, controlling the focus or framing. The second AC is the person who has the clapper holder. They made us play each of the roles. It was fun practice and made me learn how to handle a film set which is useful when me and my group are going to film.
the sound auditory engineering workshop was a bit less interesting. It was about auditory engineering which I'm not keen on but I do understand the importance of sound in film.
the day I went with school, the workshop was about lighting in film. They showed us all the expensive equipment they had in disposable, which was really cool. They made us do one scene where we fiddled around with the lights. They showed how to make atmospheric lighting to set the scene. They alsos showed how we can use back light to make the image look better. This workshop taught me that lighting is an important aspect in films and backlite is important while filming.
